Emergency Plumbing in Maple Grove, MN

An emergency is water you can't stop, sewage on the floor, or no water at all. Our line is answered around the clock by a person, not a machine. Shut off the water if you can safely reach the valve, then call. We hold same-day slots open every day for exactly these calls.

Signs you need this

  • Water running somewhere you can't get to it or shut it off
  • Sewage or gray water coming up a floor drain or shower pan
  • No water at any fixture in the house
  • A water heater leaking from the tank itself, not a fitting
  • You smell gas near the water heater or a gas connection — get out first, then call the gas utility, then us
  • A frozen line that has already split, or one you think is about to

What we actually do

  • Talk you through the shutoff on the phone before we hang up
  • Stop the water first — repairs come after the flow stops
  • Give you the price for the repair before we start it
  • Carry the common parts on the truck so most calls finish in one visit
  • Make a safe temporary fix at 2 a.m. when the right permanent fix needs daylight and a permit, and tell you plainly which one you're getting

What's different about this work up here

Two things drive our overnight calls up here. January is one — when the frost is down twenty inches and the wind is out of the northwest, hose bibs split behind the siding and rim-joist lines freeze in unfinished basements. Spring is the other, when the thaw and the first heavy rains show up in the same week and a sump pump that was fine all winter can't keep up.

The other steady one is water heaters. Maple Grove water runs 19 to 22 grains hard, and scale shortens a heater's life. When one finally lets go it usually does it all at once, in a finished basement, on a weekend.

Questions we get

What should I shut off before you get here?

For a burst line or a bad leak, close the main water shutoff — usually on the wall where the water service enters the basement, near the meter. For a leaking water heater, close the cold inlet valve on top of the tank and, on a gas heater, turn the control to Off or Pilot. If you can't find the valve, call and we'll walk you to it.

Do you actually answer at night?

Yes. A person answers, not an answering service in another state reading from a script.

Is a slow drain an emergency?

Usually not. If one fixture is slow, it can wait for a scheduled visit. If several drains are slow at once, or a floor drain is backing up, that points at the main line and it should be looked at today.

Will an after-hours call cost more?

After-hours work is priced differently than a scheduled weekday visit. You'll hear the number before we start, same as always.
